Synopsis[]
As people start disappearing in waves, Five and Lila reluctantly team up to solve their time-travel problem. Klaus sees a new side of his father.
Plot[]
SPOILERS AHEAD
In an example of the grandfather paradox, Elmer Tatelman hates his grandfather. He invents time travel and goes back to kill his grandfather, erasing Elmer from existence. Since Elmer no longer exists to kill his grandfather, his actions create a time paradox.
Luther is released by the Sparrows and returns to the hotel, where he reveals that Marcus is missing and that people have begun to disappear all over town mysteriously. Deducing the grandfather paradox is responsible, Viktor and Allison go to negotiate with the Sparrows in an attempt to get back the briefcase. Believing the Sparrows have the briefcase and believing the Umbrellas have Marcus, the two siblings agree to exchange them at the hotel.
Five and Lila reluctantly work together to travel to the Commission when they discover that their briefcases fail to work, which should be impossible.
Klaus breaks into the Academy and confronts Reginald about their mothers, whom Reginald confirms he did not kill. Klaus learns the Sparrows keep Reginald constantly drugged to keep him docile and compliant. Klaus ends up bonding with Reginald and teaches him how to hide the pills instead of swallowing them. While searching for the briefcase, Ben and Fei discover Grace worshiping the flaming ball of energy in the basement and learn that it took Marcus. The Sparrows confront the Umbrellas at the hotel and nearly kill them until an elderly Harlan Cooper arrives and kills Jayme and Alphonso.
