Jack Ruby is a character who Luther associates himself with while in the 1960s.
Background and History[]
Right Back Where We Started[]
Ruby watches Luther participate in an illegal underground fighting match in which Luther wins against his opponent. After this, Luther gives his winnings to Ruby, who then asks him to bring the car around.
Afterward, at a cabaret bar, Luther talks to a hostess named Autumn. Luther asks him what "half-wit" was bothering Ruby, but Autumn doesn't know and claims that the person was downing a lot of Vodka Gimlets. The person was Carl Cooper, who pestered Ruby to do business with him.
The Frankel Footage[]
Reuniting with Five at the cabaret bar he works at, Luther indirectly mentions Jack, citing he works at the cabret as Ruby's body-man. Five becomes alarmed after learning that Luther works for the "Jack Ruby", the gangster who shot and killed Lee Harvey Oswald. Luther also defends Ruby as a good man when Five disparages Ruby. Their conversation is interrupted by Autumn, who informs Luther that Ruby is ready to lose it on Carl, prompting Luther to escort Carl out of the place under Ruby's orders.
The Swedish Job[]
As Luther enters the scene, Ruby uses a sewing machine to sew a suit. Ruby offers to scramble an egg for him as protein. Luther declines, but Ruby insists, stating that he needs to be prepared for his fight that night. Ruby claims that he has a lot of heavy hitters investing a lot of money on them and asks that he's resolved to participate in it. Luther assures Ruby that he is but notes that he's trying to locate someone. Ruby offers to find the person for him and asks for his name. Elated, Luther writes on a napkin Allison Hargreeves, which Ruby questions if she's his ex or something, but Luther gives a mixed response.
Eventually, Ruby finds Allison and informs Luther that she's in South Dallas.
On the night of his big fight, Jack watches in disbelief as Luther gets pummeled by his opponent, who ultimately defeats him, much to Ruby's dismay.
The Majestic 12[]
In the middle of a heart-to-heart with Vanya, Luther is confronted by an apoplectic who severed ties with Luther despite Luther's offer to make it up with him.
Later that day, Luther returns to his apartment and finds Phil, the landlord, patching the hole in the wall he created. Phil mentions Ruby when he evicts Luther out of the place because he's on Ruby's shitlist.
