Case 743 is a document containing the truth behind Lila Pitts' parents murder. Number Five was ordered by The Handler to assassinate Lila's parents so that she could take little Lila for herself. To make sure Lila never found out it was her, The Handler forged the document and added A.J. Carmichael as the authorization to the document.
