Abigail Hargreeves was an alien scientist whose creations resulted in the Cleanse infection, which wiped out most of her race and nearly killed her. Her husband, Sir Reginald Hargreeves, made it his mission to bring her back to life, and kept her alive her in stasis on the moon orbiting Earth, while he worked on the planet itself for many years.
Eventually, after heavy alterations to the timeline made by Reginald's adoptive superhero children, the Umbrella Academy, an alternate Reginald managed to reset the universe via the Hotel Oblivion and restore Abigail. However, she resented him for not allowing her to die for her sins, and sought to bring about the Cleanse again to destroy Earth.

- Shapeshifting: By wearing the whole skins of humans, she can essentially become them utilising the owners original voice, mass and height. The skin can still be removed as shown when she revealed her female face to Reginald after taking Gene's skin.
